7 Rules For Practicing Affirmations Effectively

How do we use affirmations? What is the correct way of doing affirmations? To ensure that your self affirmations are effective, there are certain ground rules that should be followed. Increase your chances of having effective affirmations by knowing the right way to practice affirmations.

Below are some guidelines to practicing affirmations effectively.

1. Affirmations should be stated in the present tense
This adds to the effectiveness and impact of the affirmation. For example 'Everyday in everyway I am getting healthier'. If you use future tense, you will always only be intending your affirmation to happen in the future. As they say 'tomorrow never comes'.

2. Affirmations should be stated in the positive
What that means is to use positive words and statements rather than negative ones. Instead of affirming "I will not fail", use a positive statement such as 'I am succeeding'. Avoid negative statement as much as you can.

3. Keep your affirmations short and specific
That way you get to the point quickly, it's easier to say, and the mind will not get distracted by from the long sentence and many words.

4. Make sure that you do sufficient repetitions of the affirmation
The more you repeat an affirmation, the more established it becomes, the stronger the impact on the subconscious mind and the greater the neurological imprint on the brain.

5. Do affirmations with emotion
Showing emotion is a signal that you believe in what you're doing and that you really want it. When doing affirmations, completely put yourself into it. Don't just say it blandly. Show that you care, that you want it, that it is important and that you believe in it. Your subconscious mind will pick that up and act on it. If you say it like you don't believe it is possible then it won't happen. Say it like you don't really care and it won't happen.

6. Be persistent
Persistence is a very important quality to have when doing affirmations. Things don't happen overnight. Everything needs time. Affirmations require some time before it materializes. That is why it is so important to be persistent and consistent even though we do not see any effect from the affirmation. The only way we can reap the rewards of practicing affirmations is by being diligent and persistent.

7. Visualize as you are doing the affirmation
As you are doing the affirmation, visualize it as well. See it happening in your mind. Adding the visual element to your affirmations increases it's effectiveness. When you can see something before it happens, your self belief in the materialization of the affirmation will naturally increase.
